Online tools that always help me to simply get started

A few years ago I got the idea to start organizing speeddates for coaches and people looking for a coach. Normally I would have been overwhelmed by the who/how/what and ‘nobody will want this’ thoughts. But I had a wonderful (business) coach that in our session told me to set a date and time, put up a facebook event and arrange the venue on the spot. So that I was committed and had a deadline. And it worked! 3 weeks later I held my first sold out ‘Speeddate your coach’ event. and although there was a lot to improve I knew that people truly enjoyed it and matches were being made.

Besides setting that date and time and having that commitment there are some great online tools I used from day one and still use very often, some even daily. 4 of my favorits:

CANVA Whether you need a website logo, brochure or social media banner: you do not need an expensive design or designer to get started.

For me there is one answer to all my design needs: Canva. I use it for everything. Logo's, social media banners or posts, business cards, brochures, you name it and I made it in Canva.

Canva is a user-friendly design tool that makes it possible for everyone (yes, everyone!) to create catchy images without graphic design experience. It offers a wide array of features, including drag-and-drop design creation, quality photographs and illustrations, layouts, and fonts. You can easily incorporate your own colours, fonts and images. I like starting from scratch, but you can also let yourself be inspired by the many  templates.

Canva is very easy to use, which means it takes very little time at all to create stunning images, infographics, or designs.

You can easily start with the free account and for many people this will be more enough. Because I use it so much I have a paid account now, but the paid accounts do offer far more options that many professionals would find necessary. If you choose to go with the Canva for Work plan, it will cost $12.95 per month.

All my websites are build in Wix. I never thought it could and would be so easy to set up a website. Wix is one of the most popular website builders which lets you create your own website without needing advanced (or even moderate) tech skills. It’s an affordable, easy and hassle-free way of creating your own website.

Just like with Canva I like to create from scratch. It helps me in the proces of getting clear on what I want to put into the world. It brings me clarity. Wix also has great templates, more than 500. Its built-in image editor has 40 Instagram-style filters. The blog supports 26 languages. The App Market has more than 200 widgets for enhancing your site and integrating third-party sites and services.

Wix offers a limited free plan with a Wix branded sub domain. You can connect a domain for $9.16 per month. Their combo plan starts at $14.95/month and will get you a free domain name. The e-commerce plan costs $26.25 per month

You can always start for free and see if it works for you!

Stock photograhpy is frequently used by businesses, designers, and individuals. But for every good stock image on the internet, there’s an army of bad ones. We all know the very cheesy overly happy corporate office employees pictures. Which you can still find so very frequently.

But there are good ones out there!

Unsplash offers a well curated collection of beautiful photos donated by skilled photographers. There are fewer images than you’ll find on most other websites for stockphotos like Pixabay , but the quality is more consistent and much better.
